Two and a half years ago I was a single widowed mother and had just lost my job from it temporarily going out of business which left me with no income whatsoever. I had begun selling all the stuff we owned so I could pay my rent when I talked to someone and they asked if I had ever thought about going back to school. I really wanted to laugh. I had always dreamed of going to college but there was always something standing in the way and at that moment my current financial situation was not going to support me going to school. But I didn't laugh. I could see she was being sincere and she referred me to Metro Business College.
About a week later I went to check it out and get some information. I had no intentions of enrolling that day, but wanted some information to consider my options once I got back on my feet. However, I left there enrolled to start the next day as that day just so happened to be the first day of that quarter. I had no idea how I was going to make that work but the instructors and staff were all very supportive, encouraging, and caring. Not long after that I found 2 jobs and continued going fulltime at Metro. Eighteen months later I graduated with an Associate Degree in Business and Computer Specialist.
Thanks to MBC I went from being a cashier making just a little over minimum wage with no benefits to becoming a state employee with much better pay, health insurance, paid holidays off, sick pay, AND, for the first time ever in my life, a paid vacation! And I truly have an amazing boss who has compassion for all of her employees and goes above and beyond to make sure we know she appreciates all of us and our hard work.
Thank you Metro Business College for helping me better the lives of my daughter and myself!
